What are the steps I need to follow for terminating my lease?
When the time comes to say goodbye to Hemmingway Place, please provide the Leasing office with written notice at least 2 full-calendar months before your lease-ending date.
If you decide you need to terminate your lease before the agreed upon lease-ending date, you must contact the Leasing office immediately. There will be a termination fee of one-half of a month’s rent that must be paid upon official notification and you will remain responsible for rent payments on the lease until the apartment is occupied by a new renter. Written notice is required and you must visit the office to sign a Re-rental Form before your notice is considered valid.
What should I do when I’m moving out?
- Remember to call the utility companies to suspend service in your name. The electric and gas will return to Hemmingway Place’s name.
- Please remember to contact the office regarding the required professional carpet shampoo.
- We will provide you with other instructions about the condition of your unit when you sign your termination notice.
